I can run my laptop all day, as well as recharge the cell phones and Wii remotes. My husband can also run his laptop. If we only get on the laptops after work, we can run them well into the night. I've had to switch to grid power a couple of times if I've used my laptop all day, but I've never had to switch over if I've only used it during the evening. (This doesn't count the few rainy days we've had. Yes, once in a while it rains in Phoenix.)

The Sunforce 60-Watt Solar Charging Kit has everything you need to start generating power. Included are four (4) 15-Watt amorphous solar panels with durable mounting frames, a 200-Watt modified sine wave power inverter, a 7-Amp solar charge controller, and a wiring kit with accessories for easy installation.

Unlike some of the other technologies on the market the Sunforce 60 employs technology to insure against discharge at night when it’s dark outside. Clean and silent in operation perfect for providing many power solutions such as deer feeders and landscaping pumps.

The Sunforce 60-Watt Solar power technology makes use of amorphous solar panels. These panels are created by spraying silicon onto glass in very thin layers. This is referred to as thin film solar panels. This technology is capable of generating electricity in both low and high lighting conditions and in temperature conditions of 40 below and 176 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes them very effective on the cloudy days also. The very durable construction can withstand hailstones of 1 inch at 50 mph making them perfect for outdoor use in the elements.

Sunforce 60-Watt Solar Charging Kit Dimensions

Shipping Box: 41" x 13 1/4" x 16 1/4", 62.4 lbs

Individual Panel: 42.5" x 1.5" x 16", 11 lbs

A Sunforce 60-watt solar charging kit converts sunlight into electric current. They do not store electricity which means batteries (not included) must be added for storage of usable power. There is included a power inverter included rated at 200 watts to convert to 110-V AC for use with appliances.

With the Sunforce 7-Amp Solar Charge Controller installed to prevent batteries from overcharging eliminates damage. Because once fully charged, it is normal for the charge controller LED to turn off and on as the battery voltage fluctuates from the discharge/recharge cycle.

It can keep you safe and save you lots of money. The very affordable device will indeed give you peace of mind traveling the highways of America.

RV Tire Pressure Monitoring adds Safety

The biggest benefit is rest assured with a tire minder system. Just check out a few of the details that give you piece of mind:

On each tire you install a small sensor that replaces the valve stem cap that monitors tire pressure and tire temperature. The system is wireless so you can monitor tire pressure/temperature from the driver’s seat safely driving down the road.

Keep track of RV Tire Pressure a TireMinder

One click play, one click stop and double click full screen.

The TireMinder TMG400C-4 TPMS can be expanded to monitor 22 tires at the same time. The easy to read monitor unit is installed in the driver’s compartment.

Audio and visual alarm alerts when air pressure is too low or tire temperature is too high

For use on any vehicle 0-145 psi.

The Wireless Tire Pressure Monitor makes a great Father day gift for the driving RV dad!

The TMG400C-4 TPMS Kit includes:

Monitor and heavy duty, multi-angle bracket

4 screw-on pressure/temperature transmitters

12/24 volt car charger

4 EXTRA CR1632 lithium batteries

4 anti-theft locks with screwdriver

The best thing you can do for saving money and adding to you and your family’s safety is to insure you have properly inflated tires all around your recreational vehicle. One more thing to check off your RV checklist. Under inflated tires burn more fuel and cause premature ware that leads to early blowouts. The RV tire pressure monitoring system will save a bundle.

5th Wheel Toy Hauler Tips

There are many people who choose to travel across the country in their 5th wheel toy hauler. This type of recreational vehicle is perfect for both a summer vacation and winter vacation. A 5th wheel toy hauler vacation can be fun for everyone in your RV party, and you will find that this type of recreational vehicle vacation is easy to plan.

Three Tips to Planning a 5th Wheel Toy Hauler Vacation

The first thing you should think about as you plan your vacation with your 5th wheel toy hauler is the time of year that you will be traveling during. Figure out which season fits your 5th wheel toy hauler needs the best. You will be packing the 5th wheel travel trailer according to the time that you will be traveling, whether during the summer months or the winter months. If you will be traveling with your 5th wheel toy hauler during the summer months, you may think about hauling wave runners, water skis, bicycles, etc. If you travel over the winter months with your 5th wheel toy hauler, think about snow boards, snow mobiles, and skis. You will pack accordingly.

After you know when you will travel, you should decide the route you should take. Look at different maps that have routes listed on them, especially ones that site RV camp sites on the way. It is necessary that you plan your trip where you can park your fifth wheel in ample space. Ask the camp ground where you plan on staying if they have space for your size of trailer (typically 60 x 36 feet). When you speak to various campsites, ask them about their RV amenities. See if there are the necessary hook ups for your fifth wheel camper, such as electric and water. You may also ask about wireless internet accessibility. Do this ahead of time so that you will be prepared for your time on the road.

You should also think about those who will be traveling with you during your motor home vacation. For example, if you will have children with you, ask the campgrounds if they have any playgrounds or kid friendly amenities for you to enjoy while you stay there.

Camping With Other 5th Wheel Toy Haulers

Also, if you will be RVing with several motor homes or 5th wheel toy haulers, then check campgrounds to see if they have a group rate available. This way you and your RV companions can all park and camp near one another. Also, think about the near proximity of the campsite to your main reason to travel, meaning near the ski slope or lake front. Find out nearby restaurants, and even make reservations ahead of time to ease the burden once you arrive.

By taking head to these three easy steps, you will be sure to have a well planned RV vacation. You will have time to enjoy yourself once you arrive and while you drive because you did the due diligence prior to leaving. Have fun!

RV Generator Safety & Maintenance

For any type of RV outing electricity will be needed for all the things you can think of and all the things you can’t think of. So you will really need the RV Generator and you will need to know how to take care of it. There is nothing that will ruin an RV outing quicker than a broken RV generator.

Types of RV Generators

The traditional type runs on regular gasoline which for many years was the best and most efficient means of producing electricity. They are still a good means of producing electricity by with one new drawback. The introduction of ethanol to gas damages everything it touches. If left in the tank for a short time it turns to water. Much more care and maintenance is needed for the gas RV generator. Starting the RV Generator on a regular basis will help keep it in good working order. Installing a fuel shut off valve to the RV generator so when you finish with it you can turn off the fuel and run the excess fuel out of the carburetor. Fuel stabilizers made for ethanol fuels when it is stored over time.

Diesel RV Generators

Diesel RV generators are very efficient longer lasting and easy to care for. Their drawback is the odor from it exhaust. It will smell up an RV park quickly and make for some unhappy neighbors.

Propane RV Generators

A propane RV generator maybe the most users friendly except for getting the propane tank refilled. With some pre-planning this is only a very minor problem.

The RV Generator Basics

RV Generator Tips

RVs with built in generators many times will get their fuel right from the RV fuel tank. If the RV fuel tank get as low as a ¼ tank the generator will automatically shut off. The saves you from running out of fuel for the RV.

The biggest problem with generators is their exhaust and exhaust leaks because of the carbon monoxide. Regular inspection and testing is needed constantly to insure that carbon monoxide poisoning does not happen. RVs need the carbon monoxide alarms that run on either RV power of batteries. To remember to change the batteries do it when we change to daylight savings time every year. Do not run the RV generator in an area where people are sleeping and not only because of the noise issue but because of the carbon monoxide poisoning.

The best times to use the RV generator is when you are on the road. The reason for this is because it is more economical running the air conditioner.

RV Generator Maintenance Intervals

The RV generator maintenance intervals guidelines will be provided by your owner’s manual. Most RV generators include an hour meter to closely monitor usage so you know when to service. This includes changing the oil and filter based on time in use and seasonal. It is very important same as your car. Also note the special requirements for long storage without use. The owner’s manual will provide information on extended storage also.

The Best Used RV Buying Tips

By following these used RV buying tips you are sure to make a great investment in the future recreation fun for the whole family. The secret is to take your time get the information you need to make an informed decision on your RV purchase. Many will say get educated first and do your research on all the options then decide on the facts not just on what a salesman tells you.

Best RV Buying Tips Will Guide You

The best place to begin is to set a budget for your family. Start with all the basics. Fuel costs, RV Insurance, storage, RV park fees and maintenance costs. You will need to be very realistic with the costs. Recreational Vehicle price ranges very on the class RV you decide on. If you’re the large family Class A type in the uses class the price range can be almost anything you can think of. Used Class A RVs can run from about $29,000 into the millions of dollars depending on the size and the options installed.

The Ten Top Used RV Buying Tips

One click to play, one click to stop and double click for full screen!

To start with size does matter. What are your families requirements when it comes to space needed to accommodate them? If they are cramped their activities will be very limited. Too much space is just throwing your money away. Sleeping quarters for family members and guests for as few as three or as many as you need, will determine the size required.

Begin your research online once you have a size and type in mind. RV websites offering free information are all over. Most of the RV dealerships have websites with lots of great information. Don’t be afraid to search in other states for what you want. You would be surprised at the special packages RV dealerships have to accommodate RV buyers. Many will offer to provide for your travel to their site so you can drive the new or used RV home.

Used RV Buying Tips

The Insiders Guide to Buying an RV (Order Today)!

Price guidelines are a subject you must be on top of at all times to insure you are getting a fare price. NADA can provide a good baseline price range and it is the publication most often used. Armed with the NADA numbers a little research online with some price comparisons to verify the price ranges of some of the models will keep you up to date.

The buyer inspection is very important for both new and used RVs to insure everything is serviceable and in good working order. If unsure hire an RV inspection service or a very good mechanic that has RV knowledge. New will include Factory Warranties used can get extended warranties. But get all the details up front like where the RV needs to go for service and just what it covers.

Before purchasing a used recreational vehicle, have it checked out fully by a professional mechanic who has a specialty in RVs. If you decide to finance through a bank or lender, the lender may require this inspection before granting you financing.

One of the Biggest Used RV Buying Tips

All families should consider renting the RV of their choice before buying. Used RV Buying tips will help with the big investment in the family’s future and it is best to try and RV on for size first to be sure it is going to meet the family needs. There are many high quality companies across the country that will rent you and RV. The top listed are Cruise America and Freedom Roads plus there are many others to choose from.

Many used RVs carry warranties that can be transferred to new owners. Make sure you have all the details first. Is it transferable and what does it cover and for how long. You may like the idea of an RV service plan or extended warranty program. Many times they can save some costly repairs that may be needed unexpectedly.

If you live in an area with more than one RV dealer carrying the model you want visit them both and let them compete for your business. You can bargain your way in to some great deals using this method. Buying an RV, Boat or Car always required some wheeling and dealing to get a good price so keep the salesman on his toes.

The Sunforce solar charger is made of ABS plastic that is very durable. The ultra-bright blue charging indicator will let you know that the amorphous solar cells are charging. For mounting the panel there is pre-drilled holes in the frame for easy installation. It is weatherproof and waterproof so permanent outside installation is perfect and it works even on cloudy days.

If you are looking for the perfect trickle charger for your recreational vehicle then this is the one. The unit has built-in overcharge/discharge protection that prevents overcharging and reverse-current drain. Many find this charger to be perfect addition for cars, boats, motorcycles, ATVs and tractors.

panels. The design is exceptional at generating electricity even in the lowest lighting conditions. They even work very well on cloudy days and shady environments. The operating environment temperature will cover most all conditions. Down to -40 degrees and up to 176 degrees Fahrenheit and still require no maintenance even on the cloudy days.

The solar panel does not store electric currant but the solar cells convert sunlight to electric energy. The purpose of the solar trickle charger is to maintain a battery charge not to charge or recharge a battery. So it can be permanently installed with no adverse affect to operation and electrical components. A permanent mount used on the exterior can be used while the vehicle is in motion otherwise remove while the vehicle is in motion to prevent damage.

All that is needed is to plug the trickle charger into the RV’s lighter socket and place the solar panel to get the most sun possible. Alligator clips directly to the battery or permanently connected which ever method you prefer. It does not matter how it is connected to the battery as long as it remains connected you will never be without starting power.

The state of Washington offers many attractions for its visitors. From touring the major cities, exploring the outdoors, and relaxing along the coast, there is something for everyone. If you are traveling in an RV, you should consider spending some of your time in an RV park Long Beach WA. Its proximity to other areas, oceanfront location, and available amenities, makes this the perfect place to stay.

Staying in Long Beach gives visitors a secluded feel with the knowledge that they are so close to other attractions. For instance, a major national park is only two hours north while a major city is only two hours south. This allows all visitors a chance to see different parts of the state from one central spot.

RV grounds in this area are busiest from March to October. As a result of this, make sure you call to reserve your spot early, as they tend to fill up fast. There are many places to set up your rig along the peninsula. Some places cost as low as ten dollars, while others ask for sixty.

With twenty-six miles of sandy ocean in front of it, most of the campgrounds in this area are right next to the ocean. If they are not beside it, they are a quick walk away. This means you can leave your RV where it is and in a few minutes, have your feet in the sand and your toes in the water. You will be able to hear and smell the ocean no matter where in the park you set up your rig.

There are full hook up sites available at every location. In addition to this, you have the option to set up a tent or two behind your rig. This is excellent for anyone who wants to sleep in a tent, or if you have too many people staying in your mobile home you can set them up in these spots.

If you are traveling with pets, do not worry. Every place is pet friendly. Most require that you keep dogs leashed when they are outside of your mobile home, but they will happily allow them as long as this rule is obeyed.

When traveling through Washington, you should make sure you stay at an RV park Long Beach, WA. You will be close to a major city, close to national park, and right on the beach. You can bring your pet and will have space for visitors. With the many activities available for you, you are sure to have a pleasant stay.

RV trailer sway will make the heart of the most experienced recreational vehicle driver start to race. Just the thought of thousands of pounds of RV swaying on the highway will send shivers up and down the spine every time. Experiencing sway for the first time will ruin your day “no doubt about it”.

Just what is RV trailer sway and what must be done to avoid it and when it happens what must be done to regain control of the RV safely.

Sway will happen when a large tractor-trailer rig passes you going fast. The air pressure will push your trailer off center of the tow line then sway back. Sway one way or another will occur simply because of the hitching system pivot point.

Sway the cause, avoiding it and recovering after it happens.

The simple cause of sway is the wind; with a crosswind of about 30 mph hitting you broadside by surprise will blow you right off the road. An RV driver without experience will instinctively turn to the right when a gust of wind has pushed the trailer to the left. Exactly the wrong thing to do the trailer now pitches to the right and away it goes closer and closer to a major disaster.

Everyone has to learn and the hard way is not recommended. So what should you do to avoid this situation? The simple answer is just slow down before happens. On a day that’s windy just drive slowly or don’t drive at all if possible. Besides heavy winds will beat the mileage to death and can double your fuel costs very quickly with all the extra weight.

Even on a nice day you will have to deal with other large vehicles passing you on the highway. The reason this is so much of a problem is they push air out in front of them and this will create a very low pressure behind them. This will have an effect on any vehicle they pass and the larger the vehicle the more the effect.

The effect occurs as the large vehicle approaches. You first feel the trailer and then on the tow vehicle getting sucked into its “bow wave”. Through the ordeal as the large vehicle passes the low pressure begin to push you away again. The situation will demand you steer in one direction and then in the other which is normal. But many times there is a problem with the trailer not being load balanced or level and disaster strikes.

Many prefer the fifth wheel trailer or the motorhome as they are somewhat less susceptible to problems related to sway. The fifth wheel by design carries more of the load over the tow vehicle’s rear axles, which helps to limit lateral sway. When you consider the standard travel trailer’s hitch system the ball coupling is extended 5 or more feet behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. With two pivot points – center of the axle and the ball just make the set up more susceptible to sway.

How to Control Trailer Sway

One click to play one click to stop, while in play double click for full screen.

Do not be discourages as there are devises available to control sway and over certain weight limits required by law. Weight distribution hitches move the weight to the front axle of the tow vehicle and include a sway control bar.

You will note that all manufactures recommend an anti-sway device on the tow vehicle in all cases. There are a number of types of anti-sway devices and the lowest cost type is the friction sway bar. The next step up is the dual cam sway controlling system. The idea behind this type is to not let swaying get started in the first place.

The driver’s worst enemy is speed and sudden movements. A properly load leveled trailer will ride steady and seem very safe at 65 mph but inch up to a little over 70 and the tendency to sway is much greater. The driver must plan his reaction farther ahead to avoid sudden movements and maintain alertness to be able to react smoothly to avoid losing control.

One other thing to remember going downhill with your rig is more susceptible to sway simply because the tow vehicle wants to push you going faster than the tow vehicle. The trailers weight tries to overtake continuously and the normal braking of the engine makes it more likely to sway.

So over all the very best advice is to just take it a little slower and stay a little bit more alert and you will have a safe trip to your destination?

RV Batteries

RV batteries and their care and maintenance are a subject as an RV owner you must acquaint yourself with. Batteries used in recreational vehicles have unique specifications and there is a need to know their requirements and the limitations of the application they are used for.

For recreational vehicle use the special applications will require the ‘the true deep cycle’ battery. Similar to the marine deep-cycle battery but much different, they are in fact a combination of automotive starting batteries and deep- cycle batteries. The marine type of battery does not meet the rigorous requirement of the RVs.

The true deep cycle battery for an RV will store more usable electricity and be able to be discharged almost completely and recharged many times. The common type is the lead acid battery with thick plates covered with acid electrolyte. They are available in many sizes and they have a long lifespan and are low cost.

The disadvantages are when they are being recharged they produce toxic gases. Battery compartments must be well ventilated. This type of battery needs electrolyte level checked which is very acidic and extremely corrosive. From time to time they will need to be topped off with electrolyte and spills happen from time to time. Cleaning solution of backing soda and water can be used to clean the spill.

Deep Cycle Battery Tips

One click to play one click to stop, while in play double click for full screen.

The next battery type is the lead antimony with caps and will need to be refilled periodically. The type that is “maintenance free” is the lead calcium and are sealed and are susceptible to failure when discharged below 40 to 50%. On the down side of lead antimony batteries self-discharge faster but more suited for use in RVs. Their tolerance for deep discharge and recharge is much greater.

The gravity meter is really the best way to check the state of a battery. This maintenance step RV owners pass on and the high quality meters used to check the overall charge of a battery can cost a few hundred dollars. What you get with the RVs today is the idiot lights (red, amber & green) which mean nothing. The best choice is to have a digital display voltmeter that provides the voltage readout. This is far better than the analog meter with a needle.

The digital voltmeter provides the RV operator with the most information available at the lowest cost. The best time to check output voltage is in the morning before the heat of the sun changes the numbers. The full charge reading is 12.65 volts. A charge of 50% reading is 12.6 volts and dead or zero charge the voltage reading would be 11.89 volts.

(Order Your Copy Today)

Premature battery failure is caused by primarily from overcharging. Some of the better battery chargers on the market today will auto-shutoff when charging is complete. This is best! The charging voltage from the charger should be 14.1V to 14.4V at room temp. The chargers that put out more charge voltage than that cause the acid boil and when this occurs gassing takes place. This is what causes overcharging plate corrosion and electrolyte loss.

Charging your deep-cycle RV batteries can be a challenge at times because gassing can occur while recharging on a hot day. So a much lower recharge voltage is needed. When it is cold the 14.1V to 14.4 charge voltage will not be enough to reach the edge of gassing thresh hold to stir the electrolyte so a higher charge voltage will be needed. Be prepared to add distilled water on very hot days when recharging your batteries even at the lower voltages.

We are starting to see high quality RV battery charges that compensate for ambient temperatures that do a great job of handling this problem. But you are going to find they are more costly.

Most issues related to deep-cycle batteries are the result of a lack of understanding of RV batteries care and maintenance. The proof of this is that 85% of all the batteries manufactured in the USA fail before they should. To learn more grab a copy the Deep Cycle Battery Care & Maintenance DVD offered below. You will learn to truly extend the life of you batteries with simple routine preventive maintenance.

Fifth wheel travel trailer towing must be carefully load balanced and weighed. Many think that they are heavier duty and load distribution is not necessary because the fifth wheel RV can handle much more of a load. Indeed that is a true statement.

It is the heavier duty and heavier loads that get many into trouble on the road. The reason for this is the failure to carefully weigh the RV and verify proper load distribution. This means the load must be equally distributed from front to rear and also from left to right. A load that is not properly distributed can cause many pre-mature failures of tires, brakes and transmissions that will spoil a vacation or trip over the road with the recreation vehicle.

To have your fifth wheel travel trailer properly weighed will require public scales. They can be found by searching for “public scales” online. The process is quick and painless and will assure over the road safety.

New RV owner considerations and trailer weights to be aware of are the towing capacity of the tow vehicle. Second the hitching system also has load capacities and as the driver you should know both the load and the capacity of the rig.

The most important reason to not exceed GVWR and GAWR limits are steering problems. Overloading or loads that are not balanced can make the rig very difficult to steer and very unsafe on the road. Also exceeding weight restrictions is breaking the law and can cost some healthy fines if caught on the roads.

Some very basic rules for tow vehicle hitch weight is to have 10 -15 percent of the fifth wheel’s gross weight loaded in front of the axles and on to the hitching system. This is the area where some toy haulers can get into trouble being loaded behind the axles depending on the extra weight may lower the extra weight on the hitching system. Stability and road handling becomes a problem.

Hitch Weight Calculations

A simple method for figuring hitch weight is as follows:

Bring your loaded trailer to the weighing scales and park the trailer on the scales just so the hitching coupler extends beyond the scales. You will need to have the tongue post on the scales.

Chock the trailer wheels and unhitch the tow vehicle and get the curb weight of the trailer. Next you will want to place a jack stand under the coupler that is located just off the scales with a level trailer. Make note of this weight measurement.

By subtracting this weight measurement from the curb weight will give you the hitch weight.

Proper weight distribution affects recreational vehicle safety and stability, keeping the heaviest things placed toward the rear and low keeping the center of gravity low ensures better handling.

RV Travel Trailer Towing Safety

Safety should always be first on your RV check list and here we will give you some basics. General towing and RV towing does require some understanding and some practice to have confidence that leads to better enjoyment.

Safety Inspection

This should be first on your list before starting out on each and every trip. The most often forgotten item similar to putting the plug in the boat is the pin or lock to secure the ball mount to the receiver. Far too many trailer accidents occur from this one safety check forgotten.

The safety chains not attached to the towing vehicle and should be crossed. The connection for the trailer lights and brake lights not securely installed. Just like the pilot of an airplane always performs a safety inspection before takeoff the same applies to the RV driver in the tow vehicle.

For the case of the RV travel trailer and a separate tow vehicle creates a unique set of issues to be concerned about. Two vehicles connected at a hinge point present a number of problems that must be addressed. Requirements for the tow vehicle are performance is needed to haul the extra weight up hills and mountains. A balanced load with the correct amount of tongue weight is needed for safe driving.

Conventional Travel Trailers

Trailer and tow vehicle combinations that use the hitch coupler and ball come in a wide variety. This type of hitch coupler is the most common used for towing RVs. The tow vehicle hitch has the ball and the trailer tongue at the front part of the trailer has the coupler that slides over the ball and is locked in place allowing a pivot point.

When very heavy trailers such as larger travel trailers a hitch with a load distributing capability is required. Balance is achieved by distributing the weight or tongue load all axles of the trailer and the tow vehicle.

You need to know the terms to discuss hitch adjustment and to evaluate performance:

Receiver - The tow vehicle hitch.

Ball Mount – The part of the hitch receiver the tongue slides on to.

Sway Control – Limits the pivot motion between trailer and tow vehicle.

Coupler - The front connection point of the trailer tongue.

RV Trailer Towing Basics

The first place to start when considering your set up of a tow vehicle. The truth is many pickup trucks, SUVs vans and some cars can be set up to tow an RV. The three things you must know are the towing capacity of the tow vehicle and the size and weight of the tow vehicle.

Never just take the word of a salesman or a mechanic for the facts. You will always want to double check the manufacture’s specifications on both the tow vehicle and the trailer for safety. With the large numbers of recreational vehicle trailers, not to mention fifth wheel trailers and pop-up camper trailers. The world of RVs comes in every size and weight category you could ever imagine.

For the vehicle you already own, refer to your owner’s manual for the manufacture’s guide lines for towing capacity. The areas of concern are the tow rating, maximum tongue weight and the trailer loaded weight. These specifications can be found in the owner’s manual of your vehicle.

Another area of concern is the wear and tear on the tow vehicle pushing the limits of its tow capacity will cause it to wear out much faster. The added expense of costly repairs, brakes and tires for a vehicle being pushed to its limits are high. For longer term use size your towing trailer for half to 3/4s of the capacity of the tow vehicle. All dealerships have printed towing specifications for the vehicles they sell. You will also find what additional equipment that may be needed to tow certain size trailers.

Many people will make the mistake of thinking just because there friend’s ½ ton pickup can pull a trailer the size you want means yours will. Many vehicles equipped with a tow package from the manufacture will be able to tow larger loads than a vehicle without a tow package.

Towing Package

A manufacture’s tow package will include a lot more than just a trailer hitch as compared to a standard model. Here is a list of some of the upgrades you can expect to find in a tow package.

Transmission oil cooler

Engine oil cooler

Heavy duty radiator

Heavy duty battery

Heavy duty flasher system

Upgraded wiring harness

Axle ratio and wheels and tires for towing

There is a lot more included in a towing package than the trailer hitches, some may even have electric trailer brake controllers. So never think the standard package a vehicle comes with is built for towing.

Any trailer small large the front part is called the tongue. Every tongue has a coupler that the ball on the tow vehicle is inserted into and then locked onto securely.

Not all tow packages are created equal as some may require some additional equipment, for instance. For large trailers extended side view mirrors are needed to see approaching traffic that comes up on either side of the trailer.

A long RV vacation is something to look forward to all year. The sights and experiences thrill young and old alike and each destination promises wonderful memories. Unfortunately, long rides in between can make for some unhappy campers, resulting in less than fond memories. To combat this, make sure that the RV is well stocked with plenty of fun activities.

When working to stock the RV with fun activities, take into account everyone's normal hobbies. For instance, an artist would appreciate pencils, paper, and other supplies while a seamstress might enjoy some knitting needles and yarn. Remember that passengers will need several hours of entertainment during a typical ride.

Your own preferences along with your fellow passengers determine exactly what supplies you will need to keep stored in your RV for long trips. Below are a few ideas that may make the trip more entertaining.

Board games and card games are great fun for both single and multiple players. If you need extra game ideas, bring along a book of card games for hours of entertainment. To find interesting and inexpensive board games, visit a local thrift shop or some neighborhood garage sales.

Both children and adults can enjoy the pleasures of a good video game. For multiple players, wire the game console to the television so all can see and hear the game. For single players, hand held games are best, allowing others to enjoy quiet time or other activities. Bring along headphones for the hand held game if other passengers will be annoyed by the sound.

If your RV comes equipped with a television, make the most of it by bringing along a DVD player and renting plenty of movies. Television series on DVD can also be rented at many libraries. Strive to select movies that all will enjoy or bring along headphones if others may need quiet.

Consider bringing along a variety of books for yourself and others to read. Chapter books are best for long trips as they take more time to read and tend to contain more intricate plots that capture the readers attention.

These ideas are just a few of the wonderful activities that can be brought aboard your RV for your long trip. Bringing these entertainments along will help the time pass faster and keep passengers from getting antsy.

You can save money on an RV by first shopping around. Class A motorhome auctions, and class B motorhome auctions offer a way to buy an RV at a cheaper price.
